High School Pre-Med Students

M.I.N.D.S. (Medical Internship Navigating Diversity and Science) is a 6-week paid internship for underrepresented or financially disadvantaged high school juniors and seniors interested in pursuing a career in medicine.

Interns will:

  • Learn about a variety of medical professions
  • Learn about social determinants of health
  • Learn about and create a research project about health disparities in New Jersey

2025 M.I.N.D.S. Program

Accepted interns will receive:

  • A stipend
  • CPR/BLS Certification
  • SAT Prep
  • Medical Simulations
  • Field trips to healthcare organizations, local hospitals, and more

Arm InjectionEligible Candidates:

  • Must be a rising High School Junior or Senior
  • Must be underrepresented or financially disadvantaged
  • Must submit an unofficial transcript with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Must provide 2 recommendation letters (at least 1 must be from a scientific or mathematic advisor/teacher)
  • Submit a 500-word essay that answers the following prompt on Hackensack Meridian values social justice and diversity in all its forms. Describe a circumstance where you sought to learn about a culture, group or idea different than your own, how that impacted you, and reflect on how it has shaped your perspective on why you want to pursue a career in medicine.

Competitive applicants will be invited back for a round of final interviews.
