Large Group Active Learning
Large Group Active Learning (LGAL) Facilitation occurs in our Sciences/Skills/Reasoning (SSR) courses. The Sciences/Skills/Reasoning (SSR) courses are integrated block courses that students will progress through sequentially. The first two are foundational courses, the last 5 are systems-structured courses.
Teaching occurs on our Nutley, NJ campus in our amphitheater and learning studio settings. Teaching is delivered in an engaging and active method utilizing a flipped classroom format. The use of questioning and active participation is highly encouraged by facilitators.
Faculty development is offered to session instructors throughout the year as course kick-offs and new faculty orientation webinars. Faculty are also encouraged to take advantage of voluntary peer observation opportunities. Please reach out to individual course directors or somfacdev@hmhn.org for more information.
